In the CSIC, he has worked in Instrumentation of mechanical tests controlled by computer (1975-1986). Some key projects were related to earthquake testing and the European Ariane launcher, designing software and hardware (analogue, digital and microprocessors) of real time systems. He was responsible of the wide-area network of the CSIC with more than 100 centres (1986-1993).

From 1997 to 2003 he has been member of DANTE¹s Board of Directors, organization that coordinates the communications of the research networks in Europe. During this phase was participating in European networking, specially in the development, relations and interconnections with the research networks of other regions of the world: Latin-America, Asia, Mediterranean and USA (Internet2).

He has also been involved in several committees of experts for the planning and the evaluation of projects of the Spanish National Research Plans (2000-2003 and 2004-2007) in the ICT area. Actually he is part of the committee analyzing the actions to take for the evolution of e-Science in Spain.
